Saving
throw vs. Pain = damage done (½ damage if SDC damage). Add PE (durability) and
ME (force of will) bonuses, plus any bonuses from such things as martial arts.
Failure means the character suffers
–1
to all attributes per point of failure, recovering 1 attribute point (character
chooses which attribute that recovered point goes toward) per melee, per level.
Any attribute that goes below 0 causes the character to be incapacitated, as
they go into shock until all their attributes are 0 or higher. Each melee that
the character is in shock, they must roll to save vs. Coma/Death to avoid
losing consciousness and slipping into a coma. The examples for each
attribute’s effects are as follows:
IQ
– brain goes into shutdown. Temporary brain damage, sorta.
ME
– the world feels like it’s made of pillows, so you want to sleep.
PS
– shock paralyzes your muscles, which feel like they’re on fire.
PP
– you don’t even have the coordination to stand up or clap your hands.
PE
– you can’t breathe, or you hyperventilate and fall over.
Spd
– your legs are pieces of limp meat that are more of a burden to you than an
asset.
NOTE:
PB and MA are relevant
